It is good to know that TrafficInfraTech Expo travels to Mumbai this year. I remember that it was a grand success last year at Delhi. Such trade shows bring all the stakeholders under one roof and it becomes easy even for the government officers to learn of the new technologies, products and solutions at a single place.

This is the second time that I have participated in TrafficInfraTech Expo and I have found it very interesting. I found a particular type of breath alcohol analysers displayed here very interesting in which the subject does not have to blow into the analyser. In Delhi some crude methods are used to do the preliminary testing, like the subject has to blow into the analyser and sometimes we have to smell the drivers. Another product which we were looking for and found here is a speed measurement device which functions even at night, in essence 24x7. Most of our speed interceptors work during the day whereas most of the over speeding cases occur at night. I found some interesting products for this and we will be testing them at Delhi. Similarly, I found many other useful products here such as speed breakers, speed measurement equipment and so on. This show is very interesting. We get good products for traffic management here. I think the time has come for us to include more technology in traffic management so that the human aspect is reduced and we can concentrate better on enforcement.

The visitors came from fields that are related to traffic. They included secretaries and joint secretaries of ministries, Police Heads and Traffic Police Heads from various cities, representatives of consulates, infrastructure companies, developers, road marking companies, municipal corporations, government bodies, traffic lighting companies, advisors/counselors, electrical companies, system integrators, hospitals, multiplexes, security companies, ITS providers, fire protection companies, product manufacturers and packaging companies, etc.

This is the first time I am visiting the show. I did not realise such a show exists. We are putting up a big residential complex, a 300m high building in Worli, Mumbai. We have a big parking lot next to it where we expect about 3000 cars to be parked. So we were looking for some solutions. We work a lot with traffic consultants too. I found some interesting solutions here which can also be used in fire alarm systems and other safety systems.

These kind of shows are very important because you become aware of the new developments in the market, what is happening around the globe and also about new technologies. Like I met Roger Enqvist from sweden who showed his acoustic signal box which was very interesting through it may take some time to catch up in India. The seminar and panel discussions were really nice, much better than the ones organised at other Shows. The panel members were quite reputed in their fields and people know about them. Many of the exhibitors of course are the same at most of the traffic shows I have attended.But here I talked to many of the exhibitors, and I know many of them for the last one and half years, they said that the response here has been better than they has at other shows. The seminar was very interesting because of the quality of the panel members which could be seen from the presence of Joint Commissioner pf Police - Traffic, Delhi and Additional DGP, Karnataka and other places, even though I may not agree with all that they said. I really liked the Expo, it is very well managed.

This is much better the InterTraffic Show held in Delhi some time back. The show is very well organised, neat and clean. What we mainly look for at shows like these are new technologies or initialives by companies which we can see all at one place, instead of searching all over the place. This is very good - a one-shop solution for us.
