Praveen Pardeshi takes charge as the new BMC chief

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle within the Maharashtra government, Praveen Pardeshi, an IAS officer of 1985 batch, has been appointed as the chief of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Pardeshi replaces Ajoy Mehta, who has been appointed as the state’s new chief secretary. Pardeshi has also held posts in departments such as Revenue and Forest in the past and was among the front-runners for the post of civic chief.
